Mai is on her way to Manila to get some stuff from her old Job in order (they owe money). The same time she will pick up our pre-ordered copy of Harry Potter and the deadly Hollows, which we ordered way before we decided to move to Antique. That means that I am a grass widower for a few days. But don’t worry, I am well protected by Sister-in-law, Mother-in-law, Son and Nephews

Yesterday was blackout day, and since 8 last night until now (1pm) there was no power at all. Had to get a bigger fueltank earlier so that I don’t have to run to the gasoline station every 6 hours. I maybe should have gotten the bigger generator after all

No, this is not about Rammstein.. We have a Brownout (means no power) right now, and because of that I bought a Generator, which is now rattling behind the house. It is cute, small, 4 Litre Tank, 2 hp engine, 220 Volt/50 Hz output and good for up to 750 Watt. That is enough for my Computer-stuff, 2 Fans and a few lights. My Internetconnection runs over the Mobile phone Network, and that is always available. That means I am autonomous now. This cost about 5000 Peso including cables, thats about 80 Euro (or about 100US$).

I am not easy to impress… People who know me can attest for that. But the USA and their citizens manage that on regular basis..
I found this tidbid on Slashdot: At U.S. Borders, Laptops have no right to Privacy.
That means, that - like in the movies - inside the USA you are innocent until proven guilty. But if you are outside the USA, you are the opposite: guilty until proven inoccent.. at least from an American point of view.
The story goes like this: U.S. customs can seize any electronical device on entry to U.S. soil without a warrant, reason or timeframe when you get your gadget and its data back. You won’t get either any information what has been copied from it…
My dear American friends, I love you still, but I ask from you, how much more of your beloved freedom are you willing to give up for a false sense of security?
