Yokohama, a nice city

Posted in Japan, in English at 22:00 by foppel

Today was Yokohama on the plan. For those who don’t know, Yokohama is a city southwest of Tokyo, and has Japans’ biggest port. But next to the Port, it features Japans tallest building, and one of the biggest Chinese towns in the world.

The elevator in the Building travels at 750 kph, and it takes less than a minute to get to the 96th floor.

Chinatown was nice as well, very colorfull.

But it seems that at least 5 Schools had their road-trip that day to Yokohama.. The streets were swarming with schoolkids in their uniforms..

Akihabara - Electronic Anime Town

Posted in Japan, in English at 22:00 by foppel

I think its been a while that Akihabara was the Town of Electronics, because
it is in the grasp of Game-centers and Anime or Manga parlors.

I am sitting here in the Necca (read Mecca), a gamecenter with attached
Internet cafe’ where the Waitresses are clothed in cute Maid-costumes… very nice :)

One who thinks gamecenters in the USA or Europe are great has to see this.
Fighting games - which are played one on one, like 70% of the games - alone
take a whole floor

But there is still electronic to be bought here in Akihabara.. The proof is
the brand-new 6.5 megapixel camera in my bag ;)

I am here

Bought all my train-tickets, and had to do that in Japanese to boot.
My Japanese techer will be proud of me :)
Well not much else for today, I actually took a nap and am now off into
the nightlife of Ikebukuro / Tokyo
